AKD assists Invest-NL, Brabantse Ontwikkelingsmaatschappij (BOM) and Limburgs Instituut voor Ontwikkeling en Financiering (LIOF) with investment in Lightyear

September 7, 2022

A multi-practice team led by Finance & Structuring partner Vincent Bettonville advised a consortium led by Invest-NL and with Brabantse Ontwikkelingmaatschappij (BOM) and Limburgs Instituut voor Ontwikkeling en Financiering (LIOF) as co-investors on their participation in a financing investment in Lightyear.

About Lightyear
The Dutch high-tech scale-up has developed the world’s first solar powered car. This sustainable and innovative investment of the consortium enables Lightyear to finalise the development and marketing of Lightyear 0, which will become available this year, and to continue its development of Lightyear 2, the second model which is currently being developed for a larger market, and which will be available from 2025 onwards.

We are very proud to have advised the consortium members in a transaction with an extremely innovative Dutch company that creates products which bring a more sustainable world within reach. This transaction reflects the positive energy and sustainability focus that we try to bring to the table as a firm.

AKD congratulates all parties involved and we thank our clients Invest-NL, BOM and LIOF, as well as Lightyear and its advisers for the cooperation.

The AKD team further comprised: Niels Hagelstein, Nadine Platenburg, Remco Bosveld, Daan ter Wee (Finance & Structuring), Roderick Chalmers Hoynck van Papendrecht and Martin Hemmer (IP, IT & Data Protection).
